Express migration

If you are using Google Analytics today and want to switch to etracker or use etracker in parallel, you only need to do these 5 things:

1. Code Implementation

As explained here , the etracker code can be implemented via plugin or directly into HTML. This automatically records all referrers including Google UTM campaign parameters and all page views; by navigation area with a precise dwell time per second, all external link calls, download clicks and scroll events. With the e-commerce plugins, events such as product viewed, placed on a watch list, added to shopping cart and ordered are also recorded.

2. Data Protection Note

A reference to the use of etracker and an opt-out function must be included in your data protection notice. You can simply copy & paste this from: Settings → Account →  Data protection notice and right to object

3. Cookies

etracker is delivered cookie-less by default. If you want to use etracker with cookies, you will find an explanation of how to activate etracker cookies via a content banner here. If you use etracker without cookies and no other non-technically required cookies are used, you can even do without consents completely.

4. Events

Further click events (such as buttons) can be captured via event tracking or conveniently via CSS selector: Settings → CSS selector events.

5. Google Ads

Simply add URL suffix to your campaigns in your Google Ads account (see 1. Add tracking parameters to Google Ads). Optionally, the conversions can be automatically uploaded to Google Ads for control there (for complete linking of etracker Analytics with the Google Ads account).
